Alicia, a native of the South Bronx, began her career in journalism as an editorial assistant intern at the Amsterdam News. She worked for the Jacksonville Daily News as a sports correspondent and graphic artist before joining the Black Urban Times in New Jersey.
Alicia has worked as a case manager in New York City, Nevada, California and North Carolina. She is the 1995 recipient of the N.C. Governor's and JC Penney Golden Rule awards and has recently applied for Knight International Journalism Fellowship.
She is currently working with author and CEO Abba Onyeani to develop a Latino version of the Black Urban Times.
