The Garrulous and Gargantuan Governor of the Garden State continues to ride a wave of post Sandy support, which appears to be so vast that it even has very popular mayor of Newark, Cory Booker, losing to the Fleeced Governor by 19 points.
Despite the fact that the Newark Mayor and popular Democrat has not yet announced his intentions to run, he appeared to be his party's only chance of defeating Christie in 2013. But following the tumultuous destruction of Sandy, the embrace of that Kenyan Socialist, and showing decisive leadership during the recovery efforts, Christie went from being a freaking Tony Soprano/Boss Hog to being, well, the Boss himself in the eyes of many Joiseyans. Heck, that fleece of his is almost as symbolic as the AIDS quilt (and slightly bigger, too).
According to a Rutgers-Eagleton poll, 59 percent of New Jersey registered voters support a second term for Gov. Chris Christie, while only 32 percent oppose his reelection. And when it comes to a hypothetical matchup between Christie and his most likely formidable opponent, Cory Booker, Booker loses 53 percent to 34 percent. Holy Dirty Fleece, Batman!
Clearly there is still time for Christie to revert back to his old ways and start screaming at old ladies and marines on YouTube, and clearly the Democrats can rely on much of Christie’s failed policies (namely the cancellation of ARC) pre-Sandy to inundate the airwaves, but as of right now he appears to be untouchable.
