Ron Paul has a dirty little habit of telling the truth

COMMENTARY

Perennial Republican Presidential Candidate, Ron Paul (R-TX), was the clear-cut winner of last Thursday nite’s debate, according to many different polls. While former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty, now no longer a presidential candidate, attempted to break himself free from the shackles of mediocrity by sparring frivolously with crazed Congresswoman Bachmann, Ron Paul did the unthinkable in today’s circus-like GOP by sticking to the facts. Indeed, Ron Paul has a dirty little habit of telling the truth and strictly adhering to the seemingly dead fundamental philosophical underpinnings of the founding fathers, sometimes at his own peril.

On the economy, all the presidential wannabes spoke about lower taxes, cutting spending, and a balanced budget – the usual mantra– in focus group approved, Fox News soundbite fashion. But like always, Ron Paul threw caution to the wind and downright cut right through the carefully arranged beauty pageant that elections have come to be by thoroughly explaining why we have recessions in the first place. Mr. Paul stuck to his hallmark positions of criticizing the role of the Federal Reserve System and the monetary system, one in which money can be created out of thin air whenever the political class wants it.

"The country's bankrupt, and nobody wanted to admit it,” said Ron Paul during the Fox News Debate.

On foreign policy, Ron Paul once again proved that he is a the sharpest voice and firmly understands the pivotal Law of Unintended Consequences with regards to America’s interventionist polices in the Middle East. Mr. Paul is famed for schooling Rudy “I appeared on television the most on 9/11″ Giuliani on foreign policy during a 2008 Republican presidential debate. Paul has now said, those who spread the lie that it was all Muslims throughout the world who attacked America on that September morning are also those who seem to favor the most wars in the most places, usually so long as other Americans fight them. This time around, however, it was walking gay joke and long shot far-right candidate, Rick Santorum, who was on the receiving end of an epic Ron Paul history smackdown.

Mr. Paul handily dismissed the comments of the neoconservative former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum as “war propaganda,” which indeed Senator Santorum can be relied upon to parrot at every opportunity. He then beautifully explained that the history of U.S. relations in Iran did not begin with the hostage crisis in 1979, as Senator Santorum. On the contrary, It began with the U.S./British coup in 1953 that brought the oppressive shah to power, and it was resentment over his police state that turned Iranians against the U.S.

"Just think of what we went through in the Cold War when I was in the Air Force, after I was drafted into the Air Force, all through the 60's. We were standing up against the Soviets. They had like 30,000 nuclear weapons with intercontinental missiles. Just think of the agitation and the worry about a country that might get a nuclear weapon some day."

-Ron Paul when asked by Fox News channel anchor Chris Wallace why he was "soft" on Iran in his opposition to economic sanctions against the country

Oh no, Ron Paul! Just call the black guy a socialist, demand to see his birth certificate, and utter totally empty slogans like “Drill baby Drill” and “Washington is out of touch with the people”. Oh, and make sure you say nothing remotely factual. Above all, be sure to wear the biggest American Flag pin you can find while uttering such easily digestible ignorance.

I've been admiring Ron Paul's truthfulness from afar and believe he is America's only hope to reverse the country's demise. It's been sad to watch what was once considered to be the bastion of freedom slowly slide into little more than another socialist state pretending to uphold individual freedoms. Sadly the American public have grown accustomed to living off the public purse and demand to be nurtured from the cradle to the grave. You may not agree with everything Ron Paul says but, unlike every other candidate I have ever heard, you should take note of his philosophical consistency because it reflects the words of your Constitution and that (original) document is something to aspire to if you want America to be the great nation it once was.

I supported Dennis Kucinich 2008 and want only one thing. End the wars and empire building. Flat out, only issue for me now.
I am voting Ron Paul and will support him.
I will worry about other issues later.

Thanks for the article!

I am no genius, but after talking to several people about the upcoming election, it might be a really good idea to elect Ron Paul.

At least he promotes peace in his message. If the corrupt government, banks, and big corps, and the Bilderberg Group do not release their control over our government "Peacefully" then you very well may get the "Second Shot" heard around the world.

The people are fed up. Like Howard Beale, they are MAD AS H$LL AND THEY ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!

Thanks for your time to cover Ron. You do not have to agree with everything he says but it does not take a genius to see that he is a man of integrity. He doesn't change his tone to pander to who he is talking to that particular day. That alone gets my vote. Another democrat registering republican so I can vote for him. Its time this country unites behind this man!

yup. i went to the polls in 08 to vote for allbombya. i believed his crap about hope and change. plus, it was historical, helping to put the first black man in as president. little did i know that his hope and change was to hope to change his wealth, power, and political stature.
i cant wait for the next election. there is no way i would ever vote for that lying hipocrit again. ron paul is the ONLY person that deserves my vote. ron paul is our last and ONLY hope to save our great nation, and restore honest government to the people.

A primary reason Ron Paul is ignored is that the other candidates and the mainstream media are either totally owned or in the pocket of the military industrial complex! They need to keep this bogus war on terror going and ramped up bombing and saber rattling. Face it people - our government has been totally co-opted by corporations and international banking. American politics is the classic "two party paradigm" - the illusion of two different parties counter balancing one another - remember recently McCain and Kerry arm in arm championing for illegal war with Libya? Exactly....we are being played by criminals and the sooner we bring down this system the better! Ron Paul is key in getting America back and the "MAN" knows it! Democrats, independents and republican stop supporting your party and start supporting your country! America needs the descent folks of all political persuasions to come together and TAKE THEIR COUNTRY BACK from these criminals. We are on the way to becoming a third rate footnote in history - these globalist criminals don't care about you or your family. They care about power and global government and use our military and money to achieve their sinister agenda! If you want things to continue status quo than vote for: Obama; Romney; Bachmann; Perry etc., but if want things to change and begin to restore America - Vote RON PAUL!

We won't get fooled again! RON PAUL 2012

I live on social security. The lying cretins in D.C. would like you to think they are not defaulting on any payments to seniors. Think again. When I started ss several years ago (after paying into the system my whole life) I received payments. Well, 5 years later and I am still living on the same amount and I can buy a fraction of what I did 5 years ago. Medicine is up, bills are up, food is a fortune. And that Ron Paul explains why. Because they keep printing money to pay the bills. They are paying MY bills with watered down money. That my friends, IS A DEFAULT. Oh, you will all get social security, but it won't buy you a dang thing. Ron Paul spoke of a deal where you would opt out of all federal programs but only have to pay 10% in taxes. That man is from heaven I tell you. Heaven. Whatever the gov't promises you, you won't get a fraction of it. This man knows how to protect people. I am a democrat, and I am registering republican so I can vote for Ron Paul.

I don't like politics because politicians are liars. They are thieves. I have always hated politics. But when I found Ron Paul I was stunned. Here is a man who not only says things like no taxes...but he actually wrote a bill called the tax free tip act that would make all tips tax free. He says he wants to protect the troops and has voted against the wars every single time. The most important thing he does is this thing called fighting the federal reserve. What is that? That is the bankers who print the money in this country and give it to their friends in a bail out. Ron Paul has been fighting to stop that forever. Why is it so important? Because when they print money they make your money worth less and then things (like milk, food, gas, heck..everything) costs a lot more. Ron Paul hates the big thieving corporations as much as you do and he will protect your money for you. Please, for heavens sake, trust a fellow person who hates politics...this man is for real. He is the ONLY one that is different. And you MUST become a Republican to vote for Ron Paul in the primaries. Please register now. Please

The American people are speaking and our "leaders" and media better take notice. The people want Ron Paul to be the leader of our country, not these fraudent hand picked candidates the elite have forced upon us. We are all in the process of making(not electing) Ron Paul our president. Truth is popular. He is the only candidate with principles. We know exactly what we are going to get with him. Not like the former and current traitors over the last decade we have had to deal with. We have had enough. Ron Paul is our leader.........right now.

In 2003, Ron Paul warned about the housing crisis of 2008.

"The special privileges granted to Fannie and Freddie have distorted the housing market by allowing them to attract capital they coould not attract under pure market conditions .. Like all artificially-created bubbles, the boom in housing prices cannot last forever. When housing prices fall, homeowners will experience difficulty as their equity is wiped out. Furthermore, the holders of the mortgage debt will also have a loss. These losses will be greater than they would have otherwise been had government policy not actively encouraged over-investment in housing."

Dear neighbours,

You have the chance of a century to truly turn the page in this crisis. And this is your last one. Vote for Ron Paul! I say this as a concerned citizen of the world. If you don't, you will end like so many others before you, dragging the rest of the world, perhaps even to another great war.

I wish we had in Canada someone like Mr. Paul. It's even better he is in the USA. Do yourselves a favour: Vote him for president!

To all Libertarian and Independent Ron Paul supporters: I haven’t been registered Republican in a while, but I am changing to republican so I can be involved in the primary process. I suggest any person that supports liberty, the bill of rights, fiscal responsibility, and the pursuit of happiness should temporarily trade your proud IND or LB status for a republican status and a chance to participate in out electoral system. The only way to make your voice known is to vote in the primary (creating delegates on his behalf at the Republican convention). If nothing else, these bought and paid for politicians will have to listen to us.

GOP rather nominates Mr Putin for president than Ron Paul. Guess who gets most benefit from money made of thin air? Banks - they handle it and get commission. They will never reverse it. Guess who gets most benefit from all the wars? Think about it.

This man is right about pretty much everything! And the sad part is that it don't take a genius to figure out what is wrong with the country!

When fascism goes to sleep it looks under the bed for Ron Paul.

He has never taken a government junket.

He does not participate in the lucrative Congressional Pension Program.

He returns a portion of his annual Congressional Office Budget every
year.

He has never voted to raise taxes.

He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.

He voted no to the bankster bailout.

He voted no to raising the debt ceiling and warned us against
the “Super Congress” part of the legislation that resembles both
an “ Enabling Act” and a “Politburo.”

He has never voted to restrict gun ownership.

He has never voted to raise Congressional Pay.

He never voted to increase Executive Branch Power.

He will Reinstate The Constitution and Save The Republic

He will END the unconstitutional FED.

He will phase out the unconstitutional IRS beginning immediately

He will secure the borders

He will limit Big Government in your private affairs

He will stop Illegal immigration and no amnesty

He voted against regulating the Internet

He is the only candidate for President in 2012 who actually served his country.

He was a flight surgeon during Vietnam.

Ron Paul’s popularity is so high among U.S. service members that the Texas
Congressman’s presidential campaign has received more money from U.S.
soldiers than any other candidate in the 2012 presidential race.
 http://www.thestatecolumn.com/capito...-the-military/

He voted against the Iraq War and warned us against going forward with
an undeclared war.“Let it not be said that no one cared, that
no one objected once it's realized that our liberty and wealth are in
Jeopardy”  July 10th, 2003

He voted against the un-patriotic so called Patriot Act.

He supports a non-interventionist foreign policy yet a strong defense

He will end the inflation tax He is a true Constitutional
Conservative

He would have soundly beat Obama in 2008 because Independents trust him and like him.

We could have had a V8 instead of McCain't in 08

Ron Paul for President 2012

Because no one else can be trusted to say what he
means and do what he says like Ron Paul does.

Ron Paul is the man of the hour. They used to laugh him for being way ahead
of the others in his thinking and his warnings. Now, they are not
laughing because what he predicted is coming to pass. Now, he is being called
a prophet for having warned us and still calmly suffered through the
barbs. "First they, ignore you, then they fight you, then you
win." Gandhi
“I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no
vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of
justice is no virtue!” Barry Goldwater"

"I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more
efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to
promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to
pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs,
but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution, or that
have failed their purpose, or that impose on the people an
unwarranted financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether
legislation is "needed" before I have first determined
whether it is constitutionally permissible. And if I should later be
attacked for neglecting my constituents' "interests," I
shall reply that I was informed that their main interest is liberty
and that in that cause I am doing the very best I can." Barry
Goldwater

Senator Barry Goldwater's son, former Congressman Barry
Goldwater Jr. endorses Ron Paul. Ron Paul has been warning us for
so long of the impending economic disaster we are seeing today,
and he has been purposefully working to wake us to realize we
must change our course to save the Republic. I take Ron Paul
very seriously. He may not be the most polished public speaker,
but he speaks the truth with unvarnished power; He needs no
teleprompter to carry on an intelligent discourse for over two
hours to a packed auditorium of twenty and thirty something
voters! He may not be the  tallest, or the most strikingly
handsome candidate, he doesn't have "pretty hair"  but people want the Real Deal.
Ron Paul is the real deal.

Democrats, you know who will be your nominee, Obama. Please, for the love of all that is good in this world, do not let another war-loving, bible propagandizing, clueless idiot take the Republican nomination. With Obama's approval ratings in the 30s, whoever wins the Republican nomination may very well be the next president. Either register republican for the primary season and vote for Ron Paul in the primaries.....to keep the warmongers out, or stay Democrat and risk Obama losing to Bush 3.

Switching Republican doesn't cost you anything, you still get to vote for Obama in the general election, and you get to keep another Bush-Clone from even having a chance. Become a Blue Republican until the general election.

I am registering Republican just to vote for Ron Paul as soon as I turn 18.

- Ron Paul received an endorsement from Ronald Reagan. Reagan made special note of Paul's commitment to a strong national defense.

- Ron Paul was the only candidate at the previous debate to have served in the military. He volunteered for Vietnam while Mitt Romney obtained a draft deferment. Interestingly, Romney was a vehement supporter of the Vietnam debacle. Look it up!

- Ron Paul refuses to receive the benefits available to him as a Congressman, including healthcare and pensions.

- Ron Paul was spot-on about the economy, and predicted the housing bubble way back in 2003. Check it out for yourself:

Its going to take a ton of people who think like you to get Dr. Paul where he belongs... in the White House. Our country has been dumbed down so much, elections are really nothing more than a vote for the prom queen and king. Its not about substance any more; unfortunately, its about appealing to the lowest common denominator. I hope enough of us exist to continue to spread Dr. Paul's message and make people understand why we need a man like him to steer us out of the troubled waters that we are in.

Here is the meme I'd like help spreading.

I am a Republican and an ardent Paul supporter. We represent a large plurality of the party. Our views are being discounted and our candidate marginalized. I know GOP Leadership can affect this problem and get Ron Paul the TV time his second place at Ames and wins elsewhere have earned him. Therefore, if this problem is not corrected by GOP Leadership and Ron Paul does not receive the nomination, I will vote a straight Democrat ticket right down to dog catcher. I can and will make you lose every seat in the House, the Senate, the State Senates, Governorships, and every single other elected position right down to dog catcher. If you correct the problem and Ron Paul is STILL not nominated, you can count on my support as usual.
