As we roll into the cold weather of December, the Mega Millions jackpot is continuing to heat up.

After nobody won the Mega Millions jackpot for the 17th consecutive drawing on Friday, that prize has now reached its highest level since March 2012.

You might remember where the Mega Millions lottery prize was then. It reached the world record $656 million. According to the game’s web site, the estimated annuity jackpot for the Mega Millions drawing of Tuesday, Dec. 3 was $257 million. The cash option payout is a rather tidy $139 million. With no tickets matching the winning numbers of 7, 12, 41, 44, 59 and 3, the Mega Millions jackpot grows to over $291 million for the drawing on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013.

Winning numbers for the Mega Millions drawing of Friday, November 29 are 9, 41, 43, 47, and 57. The Mega Ball was 5. Lottery Post reported that a ticket from Kentucky matched the first five numbers without having the Mega Ball to win $1 million.

That ticket was claimed by a group of 18 workers at a UPS distribution center, according to Lottery World. The workers asked to remain anonymous, and would not reveal the UPS center where they worked.

In New Jersey, two players had better luck with Jersey Cash 5. Two tickets split a jackpot of $70,748 in the drawing of Wednesday, November 27, according to the New Jersey Lottery web site.

Winning $35,374 apiece were tickets purchased at Quick Stop Food Store in Flemington of Hunterdon County, and at New Egypt Market Place, in New Egypt of Ocean County.

Players might want to get their tickets early and check sales deadlines. Overall sales for the Mega Millions drawing from last Friday were more than double the usual average, according to Lottery World.
