Returns to kick off Monster Ball Tour

A lot of local people may not realize that a young aspiring musician formerly known as Stefani Germanotta reinvented her sound and persona right here in New Jersey.

Germanotta was developing her sound with music producer Rob Fusari, who had helped pen hits by Destiny's Child and Will Smith. Over four months, Germanotta commuted from New York to Jersey seven days a week, radically reshaping her approach to music. Fusari goaded her to experiment, swapping rock riffs for dance beats. In that Parsippany studio in 2006, Germanotta was reborn as Lady Gaga.

The Press of Atlantic City reports Lady Gaga will kick off her 2011 tour Saturday, Feb. 19, at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
