It’s a guy’s worst nightmare. Consult your doctor to find out if watching porn is right for you.
A 24-year-old single software engineer felt such intense pain across his entire forehead every time he watched sex videos that he had to quit watching.
According to Medical Daily, the unnamed man’s headache would usually begin about five minutes after he started watching the movie and become most severe in eight to 10 minutes, neurologists said. His pain was often accompanied by nausea, vomiting or phonophobia, a fear of loud sounds or voices.
Doctors said the man had no history of headaches associated either with masturbation or other sexual activity, no history of migraines in his family, and no head injuries. Neurological testing results also were normal.
Dawn Buse of the Montefiore Headache Center in New York told ABC News that about 1 percent of the population -- mostly males -- get such headaches. She said sexual arousal can cause changes in muscle tension, nerve sensitivity and blood flow in the brain that can increase the perception of pain.
There are two kinds of headaches associated with sexual activity, according to Mail Online: preorgasmic, a dull pressure-like pain that starts during sexual activity and progressively worsen, and orgasmic, a sudden onset of pain at orgasm. Physicians suggested the man’s condition might have occurred due to changes in the pain-sensing nerves in the face and jaw.
The man was prescribed to take 400 milligrams of ibuprofen and 500 milligrams of acetaminophen 30 minutes before his next movie screening. He reported significant relief from pain.
