Dr. Mehmet Oz, a resident of Cliffside Park, N.J., is standing by his study that levels of arsenic in some brands of apple juice are higher than that of tap or bottled water.

Oz said that that in an “extensive national investigation” by his show, testing done by a New Jersey lab of three dozen samples from five brands found that 10 had more arsenic than the limit for drinking water, according to the International Business Times.

The Food and Drug Administration accused Oz of fear-mongering, and sent him a letter of warning, according to the Christian Post. The FDA claims Oz did not distinguish between harmful inorganic arsenic and organic, which is harmless. They responded: “There is no evidence of public health risk from drinking these juices, and the FDA has tested them for years.”

Oz told ABC News that he wasn’t concerned with the arsenic issue in the short term. "My bigger concern is over the next decade as our children grow, is it possible that because we’re getting a lot of our apples from overseas, we may be exposing our kids to needlessly high levels of arsenic?"

ABC News health and medical editor Dr. Richard Besser. But he said that arsenic can be found in a lot of places. He said, “The issue needed to be monitored, but the disagreement I had was in pointing to apple juice and saying that this is the demon food.”

Wlwt Cincinnati reported that the FDA refused to talk to Oz or appear on his program to discuss the results of his study.

I applaud Dr. Oz on speaking out on this issue. Arsenic is a very toxic element and we should demand that our fruits and vegetables are contaminant free and that those we import are safe for our families to consume. I hope Dr. Oz can use his bully pulpit to wake up the american public that we are needlessly being exposed to very toxic chemicals every day that make us ill. I have spent my adult life trying to help communities deal with toxic chemical poisons left behind by industry.

The one that effects our children the most is the chemical PCBs which are in most every schools built before 1980. PCB's are very toxic chemicals and they were used in the caulk in schools and other buildings. There is a website regarding this issue that everyone should check out. Its http://www.pcbinschools.org Please pass this along to Dr. Oz and any other health care advocate. The schools that are being tested are found to be very toxic and even the dust and air in classroom is harmful.

Teachers and children alike need to know about this issue. I hope Dr. Oz can help millions of children and adults who are unaware of the dangers in classrooms around the country.
