Being an expectant mother myself, I was very eager to hear that the Social Security Administration finally announced state-by-state the most popular boy and girl names for 2012 yesterday.
Last year for New Jersey parents, Sophia remained the most popular female name, while once again Michael remained on top from the previous year. Isabel and Emma were second and third respectively, while on the boys side Anthony and Joseph ranked in at two and three.
Our neighboring state of New York saw different results. According to an article posted by amny.com, parents have taken a shine to Michael and Sophia. Both of those names were the most popular in the state in 2012 for the second year in a row, according to the Social Security Administration. In New York State last year alone, there were 1,384 Michaels and 1,406 Sophia’s born,
