Walmart pharmacy improperly fills teenager's acne prescription with Viagra

viagra021510_optA Florida woman thought she would be taking her usually prescribed medication for her acne condition. Unbeknownst to her, the Walmart pharmacy she normally got her prescription of doxycycline filled gave her an improperly filled prescription; instead prescribing Viagra capsules.

The capsules were similar in size, shape and color to the medication she normally took. The teen and her family confronted the staff with the empty pill bottle which underneath her name label contained the label of the intended person who had been prescribed the Viagra.

The young woman; a college student and part timer, has reportedly suffered a myriad of physical problems such as dizziness, tachycardia, and extreme temperature changes in addition to severe anxiety based on the incident.

Robert N. Pelier, attorney for the young woman stated "Misfilled or improperly filled prescriptions have become a major health risk to the public. When a pharmacy dispenses the incorrect medicine to the wrong person, there are serious health consequences. This is

deeply troubling and I am hopeful that Walmart accepts responsibility for this and takes steps to implement steps to prevent this from happening in the future"

Walmart has attempted to contact the woman and has acknowledged the unfortunate matter.
