The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has watched over the Wawona Packing Co., food business out of Central California, due to a contamination of their Sweet 2 Eat (or Harvest Sweet) brand of fresh peaches, plums, nectarines and pluots, which are sold nationwide.
This is due to a possible listeria contamination.
The recalled fruit was packed and shipped to retailers including Costco Wholesale Corp.,Trader Joe's, Kroger and Walmart, which operates Walmart and Sam's Club stores. The recall came after internal testing at the company's packinghouse in Cutler.
CNN reports that internal testing at Wawona revealed the potential listeria contamination, the company says. Listeria was found on two nectarines and one peach. It is not yet clear how they became contaminated.
