“I’m a lawyer, not a criminal,” the straight arrow Jimmy McGill insists. Fans of the iconic series “Breaking Bad” already have a clue as to where McGill’s life is headed. They met Jimmy McGill earlier as meth dealing Walter White’s sleazy mouthpiece. Only then he used the moniker Saul Goodman.
An extension of the original AMC series, creator Vince Gilligan and producer/writer Peter Gould have flipped the calendar pages back six years to when their protagonist (reprised by Bob Odenkirk) was a struggling attorney handling cut-rate cases for the public defender’s office to pay his bills. Whether “Better Call Saul” lives up to the high expectations of diehard fans in the long run is still a matter of speculation, but the verdict will soon be in.
