Four years ago, Donna Weaver reported on the Long Beach Township mayor being accused of sexual harassment by one of his employees. Now, in a turn of events, Ms. Weaver is the one being reported about.
Weaver, a reporter at the Press of Atlantic City, filed a sexual harassment complaint against Galloway Township councilman James McElwee, according to The Asbury Park Press.
According to a statement from acting Prosecutor James McClain, Mr. McElwee “is accused of harassment by offensive touching Monday,” per The Press of Atlantic City.
Weaver was covering an executive session following the regular Township Council meeting when the incident occurred, according to the Current of Galloway Township.
Mr. McClain said the “complaint carries a maximum penalty of 30 days in prison and as much as $500 in fines,” according to the Press of Atlantic City.
Because he holds a political position in Galloway Township, the case will be heard by a municipal court in an outside community, according to The Asbury Park Press.
