Matt is a Jersey guy through and through. Born in New Brunswick, he spent the first couple of years of his life in Readington before moving to Bridgewater. After graduating from Bridgewater-Raritan High School in 2007, he attended Rutgers University where he double-majored in journalism and media studies and sociology and graduated in May of 2011.
At the start of his sophomore year he joined the Rutgers University newspaper, The Daily Targum, where he covered various sports and also wrote a sports column. He also joined the student radio station, WRSU-FM, where he was the Rutgers football beat reporter, called football, men’s and women’s basketball and lacrosse games, and also hosted his own sports talk radio show, which he still does every Monday and Wednesday from 5pm-6pm.
Later in his sophomore year he began writing for a print and online newspaper, The Epoch Times. There he covered the New York Jets, Rutgers football and men’s basketball, St. John’s men’s basketball, the NFL, NBA, and NCAA football and basketball. He also took pictures for the paper.
During his junior year, Matt started to help out with Rutgers athletic department’s online television network, Knightvision Broadband, where he did color commentary for various sports and helped out with graphics and production. That same year, Matt began freelancing for NewJerseyNewsroom.com’s The Pressbox, writing stories on Rutgers football and men’s lacrosse and taking pictures.
The summer after his junior year, Matt interned at Sirius with the NFL Radio and at WFAN the spring semester of his senior year.
Along with freelancing for NewJerseyNewsroom.com, Matt also currently writes and takes pictures for Ultimate Athlete Magazine and Patch, covering college and New Jersey high school athletics.
