On a final note, Dick Clark can be considered one winner at the 40th Anniversary AMAs who is not listed above. A good friend of Clark, Stevie Wonder, played a special tribute to the music industry icon as a photo and video montage streamed in the background. Clark’s widow, Kari Wigton, was present and visibly moved by the tribute.
Keeping with Clark’s tradition of bringing the biggest stars on the planet together, the night concluded with Korean superstar PSY’s “Gangham Style,” which brought down the house. A little K-Pop at the American Music Awards? Sure, why not!
