Maybe Adam Lambert should add “Jailhouse Rock” to his repertoire of songs.
Lambert, the former “American Idol” runner-up, found himself behind bars in Helsinki after a lover’s quarrel with Finnish “Big Brother” winner Sauli Koskinen spilled from a gay nightclub onto the street.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the two reality TV stars were partying with former Miss Helsinki Sofia Ruusila in a back room at DTM (Don’t Tell Mama) in the wee hours on Dec. 22 when the squabble started.
The New York Daily News reported that the pair were tossed from the club and the altercation got physical as people tried to break up the fight. Ruusila said Lambert accidentally hit her when she tried to intervene.
Lambert and Koskinen were arrested at about 4 a.m. and spent several hours in the slammer for questioning as the police investigated as many as four possible assault offenses. They were released that afternoon.
The reason for the disagreement between the couple wasn’t known.
Fresh from the release of his single “Better Than I Know Myself” from his new album “Trespassing,” Lambert was in Finland to celebrate the holidays with Koskinen. The singer posted on Twitter that the single, released on Dec. 20, was No. 2 on iTunes in the Middle East.
After their release, Koskinen blogged: “Celebrities are people too and fame is not easy. Love is not always easy either, but it's forever.”
Lambert tweeted: “Jetlag+Vodka=blackout. Us÷blackout=irrational confusion. jail+guilt+press=lesson learned.Sauli+Adam+hangover burgers= laughing bout it. :)”
Later he added a more coherent post on Twitter: “Violence is not to be taken lightly. Embarrassed by drunkenness. No punches thrown, no injuries and no charges. Media always exaggerates.”
This is not the flamboyant American Idol star’s first brush with trouble.
NJ.com noted in its report on the Helsinki incident that Lambert was accused of assaulting a paparazzo trying to shoot his picture in Miami last year. “They’re real good at provoking, but there ain’t any pics or video of the b.s they spew out,” Lambert tweeted at the time. “I lost my temper for a sec but wow it felt great.”
He also caused a stir at Lady Gaga’s birthday bash at La Cita Mexican Restaurant in Los Angeles, which he crashed in a drunken state last March, according to contactmusic.com.
Lambert, who finished second on “Idol” in 2009, and Koskinen, who won the “Big Brother” show in 2007, have been dating since 2010.
