Richie Sambora has left rehab and is headed back to the Bon Jovi tour. The guitarist, 51, is set to rejoin the band in Europe.
According to Radar Online, Sambora spent a month at a rehab center in Utah in 2007 after his marriage to Heather Locklear ended and his father died of lung cancer. He went to rehab in late April for exhaustion and alcohol use after spending most of last year out on tour.
Jon Bon Jovi and the rest of the band have reportedly been very supportive of Sambora’s decision to enter rehab.
Gibson.com reported the temporary replacement for Sambora during his absence was Phil X, or Philip Xenidis. He is a session guitarist who has also played guitar for Tommy Lee, Rob Zombie, Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry, Chris Cornell, among others.
New York Daily News reports that Bon Jovi is set to be touring Europe through the end of July and Sambora is likely to rejoin the band for its performance in Croatia on Wednesday.
Also, WPLJ.com reported that Jon Bon Jovi was in Newark concluding a listening tour, where he met with "disengaged youth" in areas such as Atlanta, Houston and New Orleans. As a member of the White House Council for Community Solutions, when he’s finished, Bon Jovi will report to President Obama his opinions about the issues facing children.
