Bon Jovi, doing a brief concert for fans in a Meadowlands Sports Complex parking lot, Thursday announced that it will be the first band to play at the New Giants Stadium and unveiled plans for its "The Circle World Tour."
The band is preparing to spend nearly two years traveling around the world, including the kickoff event at the new Meadowlands Stadium, scheduled for May 26 and 27 next year.
Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, David Bryan and Tico Torres performed an exclusive set for a select group of 5,000 lucky WPLJ contest winners, fan-club members, and on-site construction workers currently at work building the new Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford.
Tickets for Meadowlands concerts will go on sale beginning Oct. 31, while additional tour dates go on sale Nov. 9 and 16. Fans can log on to www.bonjovi.com for the most up to date concert and ticket on-sale information.Bon Jovi was joined by New York Jets chairman and CEO Woody Johnson, New York Giants president and CEO John Mara, as well the president and CEO of the New Meadowlands Stadium Co., Mark Lamping.
Beginning with the band's North American tour launch Feb. 19 next year in Seattle, Bon Jovi will spend much of the next two years on the road, performing 135 shows in 30 countries.
Following in the wake of their successful "Lost Highway Tour," Bon Jovi will appear at London's O2 Arena in June 2010 before returning to America in the fall for an additional nationwide leg, and further dates well into 2011.
Bon Jovi's new album, "The Circle," debuts Nov. 10.
