By now, most of us know that Ed McMahon, esteemed "Tonight Show" sidekick of Johnny Carson's for three decades, passed away on Monday night at age 86. In a fitting tribute, host Conan O'Brien opened his Tuesday night show with a tribute.

"It is impossible I think, for anyone to imagine the ‘Tonight Show With Johnny Carson' without Ed McMahon. Ed's laugh was really the soundtrack to that show. ...

For 30 years Ed played his part perfectly, he played it with effortless joy and sitting alongside Johnny, Ed was an indelible part of what I think is the most iconic two-shot in broadcasting history. There will never be anything like that again. Now everybody here at the ‘Tonight Show' mourns the lose of this warm and really truly funny man. Our thoughts go out to his family and to his fans everywhere... Ed, you will be missed."

We all will miss him.

And now, "Heeeeeeeeeeeeere's Johnny!"

The Tonight Show or any other late night show will ever even reach up to the chin of The Tonight Show when it Starred Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon.

All of those hosts of today don't even try to imulate Johnny. I suppose it is because they might make an ass our of themselves. Oh well, they do that anyway!!
