Adele, the golden-voiced Grammy nominee, was dissed by fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld for being “a little too fat,” according to an article in People magazine.
But the 23-year-old British pop star, who garnered six nods, including album of the year for “21” and is considered a favorite for a possible sweep, has held true to her proud self image.
Adele told reporters that she is proud of her curves, and is happy to represent the majority of women who don’t look like models on the covers of magazines.
The singer’s Feb. 12 appearance on the awards show will mark her first public performance since undergoing vocal cord surgery in November.
Meanwhile, Adele’s fans have not taken kindly to the 78-year-old Lagerfeld’s remarks about her weight in his interview in a Paris edition of the free paper Metro, posting comments on Twitter telling the designer to “get over yourself.”
According to BBC, Adele is not Lagerfeld’s only target. He has made controversial and disparaging remarks about Russian men, Italians and Greeks and even took a few stabs at Britain’s Royal Family, including the Queen.
