The line of fans outside the Wildwoods Convention Center to try to get tickets to country singer Kenny Chesney’s free concert on the beach June 20 stretched for four blocks on the boardwalk.

The show, announced on Thursday, is scheduled to take place from 8:27–10:15 p.m. on the beach at Schellenger Avenue.

According to Shore News Today, the waiting fans had to play a game to secure their concert tickets. Fans would drop a poker chip into a vertical maze, and if it landed in a prize slot, the fan earned a voucher for two tickets to the show. The Convention Center gave away 60 pairs of tickets.

John Lynch of the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority said Chesney wanted to do a beach concert, and locations such as Seaside Heights were considered. But an event promoter liked the view from the top of the Wildwoods Convention Center.

Lynch said, according to the Press of Atlantic City, “This is a great day for the city of Wildwood,” Lynch said. “Ernie Troiano and his team have worked together with us to make a major beach concert a reality.”

Chesney has won four Country Music Association awards, and four consecutive Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year awards. Chesney has recorded 19 number one singles, and sold over 27 million albums, according to Chesney’s website. His newest release is "Welcome to the Fishbowl," set for release the day before the Wildwood concert, on June 19.

CBS Philly reports that 15,000 tickets are available to American Express Card holders and Kenny Chesney Fan Club members until 10 p.m. on June 10 at Ticketmaster.

Fans can obtain concert tickets at Cat Country 107.3’s website. Tickets will also be available at 26 stops around the area as station representatives give out 60 pairs of tickets in 60 minutes, according to the Cape May County Herald.

Fans will be able to watch the show from the Boardwalk and other areas of the beach through Jumbotron.
