Reality TV star Amber Portwood has chosen to serve jail time over her family, including her 3-year-old daughter, Leah.
Featured on both MTV series “16 and Pregnant” and “Teen Mom,” Amber Portwood has taken on a 5-year prison statement in Lou of completing a court-mandated drug rehab program.
It was last February in which Portwood pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and a probation violation. She then entered the rehab program to suspend her sentence, but has decided to leave shortly after three months, according to ABC News.
Portwood told ABC, “I felt like that wasn’t the life I wanted to live, I felt like I’d rather do my time, and get it over with, and make the best out of the situation that’s been handed to me.”
Portwood has been plastered over the news with her latest suicide attempt, ultimately shaping her decision to quit. Portwood believed she wouldn’t have passed the drug rehab program had she stayed there any longer.
As for Leah, she is safely in custody with her father, Shirley. Portwood told ABC she plans to visit Leah throughout her imprisonment.
