Van Halen, one of the most successful rock acts of all time, will tour in 2012 with original lead singer, David Lee Roth, according to a recent announcement on the band’s official website. Few details are known on where the tour will stop, but tickets go on sale Jan. 10.
The much-buzzed-about regrouping will mark the 40th anniversary of the band’s inception. Roth and Eddie Van Halen are original members, but throughout the years, the lineup for the band has often changed. Sammy Hagar took over front-man duties in the 1980s and 1990s.
Fans can expect to hear such classic Van Halen tunes as “You Really Got Me,” “Jamie’s Cryin’,” “Runnin’ with the Devil,” “Dance the Night Away” and “Jump.”
The rumor mill has also been buzzing that the band will also release its first album with Roth in more than 25 years.
The last time Van Halen toured in 2008, the band stopped at East Rutherford’s IZOD Center and Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall.
