2011 NFL Draft: Seattle Seahawks analysis and prediction

seahawkshel042611_optWHERE THEY NEED HELP: Quarterback, defensive end, secondary

ANALYSIS: There will be a large fan base wanting Washington quarterback Jake Locker to be picked here as the future quarterback for when Matt Hasselback retires. The Seahawks have other needs and Seattle could grab Christian Ponder or TCU’s Andy Dalton in second round. New blood in the secondary would not hurt where Seattle was 27th against the pass and allowed 31 touchdown catches, but there are no cornerbacks or safeties worthy of being taken with a late first round pick. Which brings us back to the defensive line. A defensive end would not hurt and Stephen Paea of Oregon State would address a need. Seahawks defense was 27th against pass Jaball Sheard Pittsburgh.

WHAT THEY SHOULD DO: If they don’t draft Stephen Paea, then they should draft Jaball Sheard of Pittsburgh

WHERE THEY ARE EXPECTED TO USE THE FIRST PICK: Jake Locker, Quarterback Washington. Hasselback is unsigned, and Charlie Whitehurst did not prove himself in his audition for the job. Locker stays home.
