WHERE THEY NEED HELP: Quarterback, Defensive line
ANALYSIS: The biggest question is who will take the snaps from center as the Titans intend to either trade or release Vince Young. Kerry Collins is pushing 40 and cannot be counted on to start a full season at this point. The problem for the Titans, like those teams ahead of them, is this is a weak quarterback draft, and the lockout, prevents them from investigating a trade for Kevin Kolb. The defense was 26th in yards allowed, and needs help along the defensive line.
WHAT THEY SHOULD DO: As much as they need a quarterback, the eighth pick is too early to draft Ryan Mallett, and Jake Locker would be a reach. The Titans were 29th against the pass, and need a defensive lineman who can excel against both the run and the pass. Nick Fairley is going to fall right into their lap with the eighth pick. The other option would be Da’Quan Bowers if they want to go for an end, but Fairly is the better pick. As for the quarterback position, the Titans will look at quarterbacks in the second round and should be able to find one between Locker, Dalton, Colin Kaepernick of Nevada and Christian Ponder of Florida State
WHERE THEY ARE EXPECTED TO USE THE FIRST PICK: Defensive Tackle Nick Fairley, Auburn
