New Jersey Devils to host 3 finals on March 13
The 2010 New Jersey Devils/NJSIAA State High School Ice Hockey Championships, presented by Prudential, will take place with three games on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Newark, New Jersey's Prudential Center.
This marks the 13th year that the National Hockey League team has hosted. During that time the high school programs have increased from 80 to 161. For the first time in its history, the event is presented by Prudential.
The three games are set as follows: Public B Championship (1:00 P.M.), Public A Final (3:00 P.M.), and Non-Public Championship (5:00 P.M.). The six participating teams will be announced following the state semifinals, which are set for March 9-10.
A record 84 schools, including 66 Public and 18 in the Non-Public bracket, are participating in this year's tournament. Ramsey (Public B), Morris Knolls (Public A), and Delbarton School (Non-Public) all entered the tournament as the number one seed in their respective brackets.
Last season, Ramsey defeated Kinnelon, 2-0, in the Public School B Championship; Randolph defeated Ridge, 1-0, in the Public School A Final; while Delbarton School defeated Christian Brothers Academy, 7-0, in the Non-Public School Championship.
Tickets are now on sale at the Prudential Center box office and are priced at $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for students. The box office is open Monday-Saturday, 11:00 AM-6:00 P.M., and through the second intermission of Devils' home games. For further information, please contact the Devils at 973-757-6100.
