Detroit Lions: Grade for 2011 NFL Draft picks

lionshel042611_optNick Fairley fell to the Detroit Lions with 13th pick. He and Ndamukong Suh will combine for the best defensive tackle combo in NFL. Second round picks Mikel Leshoure will help running game and wide receiver Titus Young will give them a speedster at wide receiver opposite Calvin Johnson. However, with a quarterback in Matthew Stafford who has only played in 12 games in two seasons due to injuries, they needed to do more to protect him and help him with the offensive line than just 7th round pick Johnny Culbreath. They got the best defensive tackle in the draft. When a player like Fairley falls to them, the Lions had to take him. However with their remaining picks, they did not address the team’s biggest weaknesses along the offensive line or the secondary.
