The New York Giants and New York Jets announced their 2009 regular season schedules on Tuesday.
The defending NFC East champion Giants will play five prime-time games including a Thanksgiving night contest in Denver against the Broncos.
The Giants will start the season opening at home against the Washington Redskins on September 13.
What is particularly challenging for coach Tom Coughln’s team is that for the first time in 15 years it will play three games in a row on the road. After tackling the Cowboys in Dallas on Sunday night, September 20, the Giants then travel for games at Tampa and Kansas City the following two Sundays. This will be the team’s final season at Giants Stadium. The Giants will move into a new facility adjacent to the old stadium in the Meadowlands sports complex in 2010.The Jets will play two prime-time games, and one will be on the NFL Network on a Thursday night (Dec. 3). The Jets will also play the final regular-season game at Giants Stadium, Jan, 3, when they entertain the Bengals.
