Jim Caldwell was just fired from the Indianapolis Colts after three seasons. Caldwell was the team’s quarterback coach when Peyton Manning first rose to success. Another close friend of Manning, general manager Bill Polian, was also let go recently.

Are these moves a sign of things to come for Manning? The Colts are saying the moves have no bearing on Manning's future.

According to Revenge of the Birds, the Arizona Cardinals may have interest in Manning if he is determined to be healthy. Raising Zona reported that Charley Casserly of CBS said that the team may try to get out of Kevin Kolb’s contract and sign Manning. Arizona has turned to veteran quarterbacks before. Kurt Warner took the Cardinals to the Super Bowl in 2009 under current head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

When the Indianapolis Star asked new Colts general manager Ryan Grigson whether the team is moving forward with the idea that Peyton Manning will be gone, he answered, "No. I have not had a chance to even get with him yet. We're taking this piece-by-piece in the way we feel is in the best interest of the franchise."

Another position on the Peyton Manning situation came from actor and friend of Colts owner Jim Irsay, Rob Lowe.

According to the New York Times, Lowe posted on Twitter, “Hearing my fave, #18 Peyton Manning will not return to #NFL. Wow. #Colts”, perhaps indicating the 36-year old quarterback was considering retirement.

Manning’s father Archie and his agent denied it, and Irsay said the situation had not changed. Irsay responded to Lowe’s post: “My sources tell me Rob will star in an epic remake of 'Deep Throat' with aging porn stars and 4 finger circus clowns!”

Indianapolis needs to make a decision about keeping Manning on their roster or not by March 9.
