Manny Pacquiao’s future is now uncertain following the result of his latest boxing match.
In Saturday night’s fight against Juan Manuel Marquez, Pacquiao would collect his second consecutive loss after getting knocked out by Marquez in the final seconds of the sixth round. Pacquiao was lay motionless in the ring for a couple of minutes before getting assisted into a sitting position.
Following the outcome from the fight, Pacquaio’s future seems to be unclear and has two possible choices, a fifth match against Marquez or retirement.
Pacquaio’s trainer Freddie Roach told Yahoo Sports that he wants to see Pacquaio train in the gym once again before continuing with his boxing career and before choosing one of the two options.
“Possible retirement, possible rematch; I’m not sure which way we’re going to go right now,” said Roach to Yahoo Sports. “It really depends upon how he feels and what he wants to do. We’ll get back in the gym and if I see signs of decline, I’ll tell him to retire. If I don't I’ll tell him to go on.”
On Saturday night following the match Pacquaio was taken to the hospital and was given a CT scan were the results were negative, according to ESPN. He did not appear to the post fight news conference in order to get observes by medical personnel.
Pacquaio did lead in the score cards prior to the sixth round knockout. According to ESPN Pacquaio was ahead of Marquez 47-46 on all three judges’ score cards. By the end of the fight Maruez improved to 55-6-1 with 40 knockouts and Pacquiao fell to 54-5-2 according to the Associated Press.
