Nike has announced that the giant apparel and sports equipment company has agreed to make a signature series basketball shoe in honor of the hottest and certainly marketable phenomenon, Jeremy Lin.

In the tradition of Nike’s prior promotional tactics, the manufacturer has quickly taken advantage of the recent, profound leadership of Lin.

According to CounterKicks.Com, “[Jeremy Lin] has been rotating simple White/Blue and Black/White editions of the Hyperfuse 2011 Low since” his rise to fame. His new Hyperfuse 2011 PE will feature “Knicks colors”.  The new sneaker will be based off of the current Nike Hyperfuse 2011 platform.

And as ESPN Radio Blog reports, Nike is set to release the shoe “with ‘Lin’ embroidered in script on the side of the heel,” as well.

In the world of signature basketball sneakers, there have only been a handful. It’s an honor bestowed upon only to the highest level player with the mightiest potential marketable brand.  Some profound examples include the Jordan, the Kobe, the Wade and the Lebron. Most recently, the release of the latest Nike Air Jordans created a panic in the U.S.

Now it’s official. The “Lin” will be available in quantity, unlike his jersey which seems to fly off hooks. Another sale frenzy may occur, and pretty soon, the first Jeremy Lin Nike commercial should follow.

The NY Knicks have a seven game winning streak, still riding the momentum clearly provided by Jeremy Lin’s high level play.  On Wednesday, the 6’ 3” guard, posted a career high of 13 assists against the Sacramento Kings, in a blowout victory.

The Knicks will face the New Orleans Hornets at MSG this Friday in a prime time battle.
