NFL quarterback Tim Tebow has seen his share of fan frenzy. But one Hopatcong man took his "Tebowmania" a bit too far and landed himself in jail
Police say earlier this month,Jason Slater, 28, dialed 9-1-1 several times asking to speak with the New York Jets backup QB before abruptly hanging up, reports CBS.
Unable to reach the football star, Slater called the Hopatcong Police Department, told the dispatcher that he was the President of the United States and demanded to speak with Tebow once more.
This time, however, police traced the call to Slater's mother's home where they found the man hiding in a closet under a stack of bed pillows, the report said.
Slater was arrested and charged with creating false alarms.
After being processed at police headquarters and released, Slater was issued a summons for littering for tossing his original summons on the ground in front of police officers. He was also charged with hindering apprehension, according to the New Jersey Herald.
