Philadelphia Eagles: Grade for 2011 NFL Draft picks

eagleshel042611_optThe Philadelphia Eagles addressed need and got value in first three rounds. Guard Danny Watkins was a good first round pick who will start. Addressed needs in secondary with safety Jaiquawn Jarrett in second round and cornerback Curtis Marsh in third. Drafted three offensive lineman, two defensive backs, and three linebackers. Do not understand spending fourth round pick on kicker Alex Henery when David Akers is still one of best kickers in league. Now just need to figure out what to do with Kevin Kolb.

Jon, Remember when the Eagles let #5 out of the nest to D.C. Lots of analysis thought the Eagles were nuts...
I won't predict the Epic fail of #5 onto David Akers, I will however simply say, it is time to move on!
Unlike McScabb, I actually luv'ed Akers, even with his some of the more head scratching misses in crunch time the last 2 yrs in playoffs. I don't feel the animosity I had with the departing QB. I wish & trust David will have lots of success in his future endeavors. But the decline has be noted and steady in the Playoffs. (burn me once shame on you, burn me twice... Is where I'm drawling the line)
Bottom line, A kicker scores more points per season than anyone else on the team, usually. With the dynamic offense the Eagle have, the window of opportunity the next 5 yrs is wide open (give or take a year..?)

I want a kicker I can count on in the (Voice of Jim Mora Sr) PLAYOFFS!
