An area of low pressure developing over the Tennessee and Mississippi Valleys this morning will bring a threat for snow showers and even some light snow to the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas late tonight into tomorrow morning.

High pressure will give way through today with increasing clouds as the low pressure system approaches. Winds will be light and variable through this evening. Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid 40's for highs this afternoon.

Tonight, the low pressure system will move towards the New Jersey coastal waters with scattered snow showers. The best potential for accumulating snowfall will be around the Philadelphia metropolitan area and southern New Jersey where snowfall accumulations will have the potential to reach a trace to two inches on cold surfaces. Otherwise, only widely scattered snow showers are expected. Temperatures tonight will fall into the upper 20's to lower 30's.

High pressure will take control once again by tomorrow morning on through Wednesday with scattered to variable clouds yet dry conditions. Temperatures will moderate through the period with highs in the mid 40's to lower 50's by tomorrow afternoon. Tomorrow night temperatures will fall into the upper 10's to upper 20's for lows and then rebound into the mid to upper 40's for highs on Wednesday.

A strong low pressure system will approach from the southwest on Wednesday night into Thursday with periods of moderate to heavy rain throughout the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas. Rainfall amounts of over an inch will be possible. Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 30's for lows and upper 40's to mid 50's for highs.

Arctic air will invade the northern Mid Atlantic by Friday with much colder temperatures returning and this time for an extended period of time. Temperatures on Friday will barely move with highs in the mid to upper 30's. Through next weekend, temperatures will range from the lower 10's to lower 20's for lows and upper 20's to mid 30's for highs.
