An area of low pressure over the Tennessee River Valley will track towards the New Jersey coastal waters by tomorrow morning. This low pressure system, moving along a stationary front off the coast, will produce moderate to heavy rain for the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas later this morning on through tonight, tapering off to scattered showers by early tomorrow afternoon.
Rainfall amounts will range from one to two inches with the heaviest rainfall expected along the coast. Temperatures will rise into the upper 50's to mid 60's for highs this afternoon before steadying falling into the 40's tonight.
The low pressure system will depart by tomorrow morning with showers lingering along the coast into the early afternoon hours. As the low pressure system departs, colder polar air will build into the region which will suppress high temperatures in the upper 40's to lower 50's for the entire region. Breezy conditions are expected tomorrow afternoon and evening as the colder, drier air works into the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas.
High pressure will take full control by Friday and remain in control through this weekend with scattered clouds, light winds, and seasonable temperatures. Temperatures will range from the upper 20's to upper 30's for lows and mid 40's to mid 50's for highs through this weekend.
Another cold front will move through the region on Monday morning with additional scattered showers followed by clearing skies for Tuesday. Temperatures will remain near normal with lows in the lower 30's to lower 40's and highs in the upper 40's to upper 50's.
