An advancing cold front this morning will bring period of rain to the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas this morning. The rain will be heavy at times as winds veer to the northwest at 5 to 15 mph and falling temperatures. Clearing skies can be expected by this evening. Temperatures will fall into the 40s and 50s through this afternoon as cold air builds into the region.
High pressure will take hold tonight on through Monday with tranquil weather conditions and temperatures average near to slightly below normal. Winds will gradually become light and variable by tomorrow afternoon as high pressure settles overhead. Temperatures will fall into the upper 20s to lower 30s for lows tonight. Temperatures Thursday through Monday will range from the lower to mid 30s for lows and upper 40s to lower 50s for highs.
The next threat for significant rainfall will be for the middle and end of next week.
