Arctic cold air will invade the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas today with temperatures falling through the 40's and down into the 30's by later this afternoon. A strong pressure gradient will be in place over the northern Mid Atlantic today through Wednesday leading to windy conditions as well, which will produce wind chills in the single digits, teens, and 20's through the next several days.
The good news is high pressure will keep much of the Philadelphia and New York City dry although cold. However, I can't rule out a passing flurry or snow shower, especially over the interior. Temperatures will range from the lower 10's to lower 20's for lows and lower 20's to lower 30's for highs through Wednesday.
High pressure will move off the coast on Thursday with continued dry conditions through Saturday but moderating conditions. While tranquil conditions will be in place, temperatures will rebound into the mid 20's to lower 30's for lows and mid 30's to mid 40's for highs.
An area of low pressure will approach on Sunday with the threat for rain and snow showers. At this time, the precipitation is not expected to be significant. Temperatures will range from the lower 20's to lower 30's for lows and mid 30's to lower 40's for highs.
