A series of weak disturbances will move through the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas over the next several days as temperatures moderate from the Arctic cold conditions that have been in place.

A cold front will approach the region today but will collapse before reaching the region. Winds will shift to the west leading to weaker conditions with highs this afternoon in the lower to mid 30's over the interior and upper 30's to lower 40's along the coast.

As high pressure shifts off the East coast and remains in place over the Atlantic Ocean, tranquil conditions can be expected along with a southwesterly wind transporting warmer conditions into the region.

Temperatures will moderate back into the mid 20's to mdi 30's for lows and upper 30's to upper 40's for highs by tomorrow. By Saturday, temperatures will continue to moderate with highs in the mid 40's to lower 50's.

On Saturday night, a stronger cold front will move through the region with a few isolated rain and snow showers, however most locations will remain dry. Winds will shift to the northwest with colder conditions in place for Sunday through Tuesday. Temperatures will fall back to near normal levels with lows in the mid 20's to lower 30's and highs in the upper 30's to mid 40's.

A developing rain storm will approach by the middle of next week with increasing clouds on Wednesday and periods of moderate to heavy rain Wednesday night through Thursday. The low pressure system is expected to track to the west of much of the region leading to temperatures rising into the mid 40's to mid 50's for highs ahead of the cold front passage.
