One business that figures to stand up even during a recession is that of a laundromat. So Middlesex County’s Cathy Neilley decided she would revolutionize the laundromat experience for her customers.
The new Spin Doctor Laundromat held its grand opening in October at Kuser Plaza in Hamilton, and has shown that even laundromats are being taken over by technology.
The Trentonian reports that Spin Doctor contains Electrolux high-performance, machines that take credit cards, and can text customers about the number of washers and dryers that are available or when their wash is done.
Spin Doctor’s machines are also high-efficiency, Energy Star-rated, and use 200 G-Force water extraction which makes garments tangle less and dry faster.
The laundromat’s web site says Spin Doctor is environmentally conscious. They encourage recycling, and use biodegradable, sustainable products wherever it is possible in their operation.
The laundry has 41 washers in three sizes and 36 double-load dryers, and also features a game kiosk, free Wi-Fi, three TV’s, fax/copy services, and a play area for children.
Neilley said the laundromat had done well since its opening, part of that business being due to Hurricane Sandy. She said people were coming to Spin Doctor from as far as Jersey City to various shore areas.
“I hate to say it, but with the disaster, there were quite a number of people who lost electricity or lost services and I was very surprised how far people had driven to reach us that week,” she said, according to The Times of Trenton.
Spin Doctor is located at 1070 Whitehorse-Mercerville Road on Kuser Road. Hours are 7:00 am to 11 pm daily.
