Professor Stephen Hawking will turn 70 this Sunday. He has discussed topics as wide ranging as the origins of the universe, alien civilizations, and the possibility of establishing colonies on Mars.

Considering Hawking’s vast knowledge of the universe, New Scientist magazine asked him what he thinks about most during the day. He responded:

“Women. They are a complete mystery.”

In 2004, Hawking showed how the information that a black hole swallows leaks back into our universe through "Anti-de-Sitter/conformal field theory correspondence," which links quantum-mechanical perturbations at its boundary. He called his belief that information was destroyed in black holes "his biggest blunder."

Also, according to the BBC, Hawking said if the neutrino is proven travel faster than the speed of light, then Einstein’s theory of relativity is wrong.

Hawking was diagnosed with motor neurone disease at 21, and uses a voice machine for speaking. The Australian reports that he married Jane Wilde in 1965, and the couple separated in 1991.

Professor Hawking would marry a second time to his hurse Elaine Mason in 1995, but filed for divorce in October 2006.

According to Mail Online, when asked if we will ever colonize the stars, Hawking answered, “I believe that we will eventually establish self-sustaining colonies on Mars and other bodies in the Solar System, but probably not within the next 100 years." Hawking said he believes that global warming or nuclear war will eventually ruin the Earth in the next 1000 years.

It is charming that quantum physicist Stephen Hawking maintains the humility and grace to acknowledge that there are many mysteries in our magnificent universe; chief among them, women.

At the age of 70, Hawking is filled with wonder. So am I. It is a wonder-full age...turning 70. We can truly say "I don't know" about even more now, than when we were 30!
