SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING
Snow has just about disappeared and the sun seems a bit stronger these days here in New Jersey. But make no mistake â ski and snowboard activity throughout Pennsylvania, New York and New England continues to rock.
âThe average high temperature for March is 37 degrees and the average low is a comfortable 20 degrees,â explains Jen Butson, spokesperson for the Vermont Ski Areas Association, a trade group. âAdditionally, daylight hours are longer, which allows for people to rise with the sun at 6:05 a.m. and enjoy après-ski sunsets at 7 p.m.â
Whatâs more, she points out, lift lines are fairly short through the month; soft and plentiful snow, coupled with the warmer temperatures, make it a superb month for beginners to learn to ski or ride; most Vermont ski areas offer lift ticket and lodging end-of-season deals.
