In his new book, "Shooting For Tiger: How Golf's Obsessed New Generation Is Transforming a Country Club Sport" (Public Affairs, Perseus Book Groups, April 2009), Short Hills, N.J., native and Pingry School graduate William Echikson looks at the young players and their parents as they chase this goal.
Echikson, a three-time author, followed his son Samuel as he competed on the junior golf circuit of the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA). As a parent, Echikson was an inside witness to the pressures, both internal and external, put on the teens with potential fame and fortune on the line, and the expectations – real and perceived – they faced every day.





Last year Philadelphia Sixers star Andre Iguodala signed a six-year contract said to be worth $80 million.
