The Democratic National Committee Tuesday has launched radio ads in the Congressional districts of New Jersey U.S. Reps. Leonard Lance (R-7th) and Frank LoBiondo (R-2nd) criticizing them for opposing President Obama's health insurance bill

The DNC is also going to run radio ads criticizing 30 other Congressional Republicans who voted against the proposal.

On Thursday, the DNC announced Lance and LoBiondo are among the 32 the party is targeting for defeat in neat year's elections because their votes went against the interests of the majority of their constituents who support the health care bill.

"The ads send a message to the constituents of these 32 districts, calling out their representatives for siding with more of the same and urging listeners to call their member to ask him or her to "stand up for reform, not the insurance companies." said DNC Communications Director, Brad Woodhouse.

"These representatives are failing at their most basic responsibility: advocating for what's in the best interests of their constituents," Woodhouse said. "As health care costs continue to rise and their voters seek the change they voted for in 2008, these Republicans have instead sided with the health insurance industry and the status quo on health care.

"Not only did these districts vote for President Obama in 2008, they are also in dire need of comprehensive health reform. These Members, and Republican leaders, have read this issue wrong politically. They think the political peril is in voting for reform. We're putting these folks on notice - the political peril is in siding with big insurance companies and voting against reform."

The LoBiondo ad declares, in part, "When the U.S. House passed health insurance reform that would provide Americans quality, affordable care, Congressman LoBiondo stood with the insurance industry, not the people he was elected to represent. Congressman LoBiondo voted against ending discrimination based on pre-existing conditions, against reining in skyrocketing premiums, and against expanding health coverage to more Americans.''

The Lance ad states, in part, "Congressman Lance joined Republicans in Washington and voted against real reform. He stood with the health insurance industry instead of us.''

The DNC is not targeting New Jersey‘s other Republican congressmen because the majority of their constituents voted against Obama in the 2008 election.
