NOW THAT'S FUNNY
As Cory Booker continues his bid for the U.S. Senate, he has many supporters. But his BFF in this endeavor might just be Oprah Winfrey.
Oprah is a good friend to have. This summer, she is hosting a fundraiser for Mr. Booker at the Liberty House restaurant in Jersey City, reports The Wall Street Journal. One hundred people are expected to attend; ticket prices range from $1,000 to $2,600.
Fundraisers are wonderful, but Oprah can – and does – do more than that for the politician she calls a “genius”, including:
She interviewed him at length on her OWN network – you can see it all her on her website.
She wrote about him in Time Magazine when they named Cory Booker one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World.
She donated $1.5 million various Newark non-profit organizations and schools, including Newark Now, a community organization founded by Mr. Booker.
She’s going to join him in a juice/cleansing fast to get rid of all those campaign trail fast food pounds.
She probes sensitive issues with him, allowing voters to see him teary and vulnerable, yet strong and persevering.
She has promised to appear at all his fundraisers and announce him in her signature style: CORY BOOOOOOKKKERRRRRR!
She got him a special car with a hose and water supply, so that the next time he rescues someone from a burning building, he can also put out the fire.
Oprah’s fundraiser is August 1. The Democratic primary is August 13. Mr. Booker is running against … um … well, some other folks that aren’t good friends with Oprah.
