Someone did extra holiday shopping after hours at a Hillside car dealership when sixteen late-model luxury vehicles worth at least $600,000 dollars were stolen over the past weekend, police said.

The owner of the showroom told police that nine vehicles were taken from the outside parking lot, Hillside Police chief Robert Quinlan said. Another seven vehicles were taken from the showroom.

According to an Associated Press report at NorthJersey.com, police say a car was driven through a showroom window and that a lock box containing keys to the cars was found open.

The Hillside Police Department web site reports the vehicles stolen included a 2008 Audi Q7, a 2009 and 2010 Lexus, six late model Mercedes-Benz's, three Porsches, a 2011 BMW X-5, a 2008 Honda CRV, 2008 Jeep and a 2008 Land Rover.

An employee discovered the thefts and some property damage on Sunday afternoon. Two other vehicles were found with their engines running in the parking lot.

According to NJ.com, the owner of the showroom, Yuriy Mirgorodskiy of Rego Park, New York, said the thefts occurred sometime between Friday evening and Sunday afternoon.

Mirgorodskiy is the owner of Auto Holding Dealership, 651 Route 22 West, in Hillside. The dealership is located on Route 22 West, near McLean Place.
