Citing what it sees as his commitment to expanding health insurance for New Jerseyans, and the passage of paid family leave for working families, New Jersey Citizen Action Monday endorsed Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine for re-election.
"Governor Corzine and Senator Weinberg (the Democratic lieutenant governor candidate) have continued to demonstrate their commitment to improving the quality of life for all New Jersey families by ensuring that more children in New Jersey have access to quality and affordable healthcare, enacting family leave insurance so that workers no longer have to choose between their family and a paycheck and expanding the State's earned income tax credit to make sure that more people can access this benefit," said Phyllis Salowe-Kaye, New Jersey Citizen Action director in Newark.
"New Jersey Citizen Action is an organization that is on the front lines of the fight to expand opportunities for the people of this great state,'' Corzine said. "I share their commitment to this cause and am proud to receive their endorsement. Over the next four years, I will not waver in my commitment to expanding health insurance and protecting New Jersey's working families."
Weinberg added, "New Jersey Citizen Action works everyday to insure that government is responsive to the needs of working people across New Jersey. Their members and volunteers are an example of what is possible when we work together to forward the progressive values we hold dear. I am honored that they have chosen to endorse us. "
