The New Jersey State Nurses Association (NJSNA), representing more than 110,000 nurses statewide, has announced the endorsement by its Interested Nurses Political Action Committee (INPAC) of Democratic gubernatorial incumbent Jon Corzine in the 2009 race.
In making the endorsement, the group pointed out that "Governor Corzine recognizes the vital role nurses play in our society and has stated that he looks forward to working together."
Speaking about the endorsement Terri Mount, NJSNA/INPAC Chair said, "Governor Jon Corzine has been a friend to nursing. He has pledged support for legislation that removes the Joint Protocol for Advanced Practice Nurses prescribing in New Jersey and to educational advancement for nurses. He is the candidate best prepared to help NJSNA secure critical policy changes affecting nursing practice in New Jersey."
The endorsement followed a lengthy vetting process, in which the Interested Nurses Political Action Committee (INPAC) Board of Trustees reviewed the voting record, accessibility of the candidates, political potential, and priority criteria, along with their answers to a candidate questionnaire.— ANDY LAGOMARSINO, NEWJERSEYNEWSROOM.COM
