The New Jersey state Senate and Assembly will each hold three voting sessions between Dec. 7 and Jan. 11, according to the state Office of Legislative Services.
As part of the so-called lameduck session during the last weeks before the Legislature reorganizes on Jan. 12, the Senate has set aside five days and the Assembly four for committee meetings.
The Assembly will conduct a voting session on Dec. 7, and the senate on Dec. 10. Both houses will have voting sessions on Jan. 7 and 11.
Senate committee meetings are scheduled for Nov. 23, Dec. 3, Dec. 7, Dec. 14, and Jan. 4. Assembly committee meetings are set for Nov. 23, Nov. 30, Dec. 3, and Jan. 4.
Two major issues looming for the lameduck session are the legalization of gay marriage and approving the use of marijuana for medical purposes.
Chris Christie will be inaugurated as governor on Jan. 19.

Honorable Wisniewski,The New Jersey Horse Council is writing to ask you to move Bill A-1690 forward in the Transportation Committee for voting. (R.S.39:4-72). A-1690 amends (R.S.39:4-72) that establishes reporting requirements, permissive inference for violations by motor vehicle operators approaching or passing horses, ponies and mules, and tightens up the existing law.A-1690 contains no substantive changes; it was tweaked for clarification, thus better defining the intent of the original law, R.S.39:4-72. Passage of amendment A-1690 will improve public safety for both motorists and equestrians. Please note that A-1690 has no budget impact; it only strengthens current law.We strongly recommend Bill A-1690 be released for voting. For information on the New Jersey equine industry, which is valued at$4 billion and generates $1.1 billion annually, go to: http://www.esc.rutgers.edu/news_more/EIS_video.htm.The horse is the State Animal of New Jersey. Help keep NJ’s horses safe.Very Sincerely,Alan Weisberg205 Beech Ct.Norwood, NJ 07648
