Receives more than 500 orders for her "Mortgage Apple Cakes"
A Teaneck woman facing foreclosure on her home won't get kicked out after all thanks to her determination, some publicity and an apple cake that took the world by storm.
Angela Logan, 55, began selling "mortgage apple cakes" at $40 a pop about 10 days ago in an effort to save her house. She needed to raise about half of the $2,559.94 payment due by July 26.
But as word of her dilemma spread, the orders poured in, and a nearby hotel offered her kitchen space so she could up her production. As a result, she'll be able to make the first of three payments with no trouble.
Logan, a former actress who is now going to nursing school, received more than 500 orders (times $40 = $20,000) for her cake, including one from Hong Kong, according to northjersey.com.
And after the Hilton Hotel in Hasbrouck Heights learned of her plight they initially thought about buying some of her cakes. Instead they offered her something more practical: Access to their kitchen with its commercial mixers and ovens, according to northjersey.com.
