Dog in critical shape after incident in Plumsted
A 17-year-old Plumsted (Ocean County) boy has been charged with animal abuse after he allegedly dragged his dog, which had its leash caught in the door of a pick-up truck, for over a mile Wednesday.
Authorities said the dog, an English pointer, survived by breaking free of its collar. But the animal was critically injured and faces a long recovery.
It is unclear whether the dog was dragged accidentally. Authorities did not identify the juvenile.
