A South Amboy woman charged with child endangerment in November after police say she took a baby girl she was babysitting for stroll in it's carriage while she was sloshed to the gills is on the run.
Police say they observed Brooke Peder pushing a stroller with a little baby girl in it around 10 a.m. in November 2009, when they noticed Peder stumble across a lawn and nearly trip over a curb, according to the Daily Record.
Officers went to see if the baby was OK and question Peder, who police knew to have an outstanding warrant. She gave the officers a false name and was slapped with a hindering charge.
After her arrest, police searched her belongings and found six hypodermic needles, a prescription bottle of antidepressants with the label torn off and a straw with white powder residue on it. Peder was later charged with drug offenses as well, the APP.com reported.
The police took the baby to headquarters where she was turned over to her parents.
Peder, who pleaded guilty in February, did not show for her April 26 sentencing and faces up to five years in prison for child endangerment charge when she is apprehended.
Peder, in her early 20s, is listed as 6 feet tall, and 200 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.
Authorities do not urge anyone who may come into contact with Peder to try and apprehend her. If you see or know where police may locate the fugitive, please call the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office at 732-745-3362 during weekdays and 732-745-3300 on nights and weekends.
